Frequently Asked Questions

  • Tucson Soccer Center has several registrations available depending on your scenario. Please read below to ensure you sign up correctly! League sign up can be viewed HERE.

    • Team Sign Up: Team Captains Only 

      • This registration is FREE.

      • Within 1-2 days of signing your team up, they will become an available option for each of your teammates to choose during Player Sign Up.

      • Captains should indicate what color jerseys their team will wear. They should also clarify to their teammates whether or not purchasing a jersey is necessary.

    • Player Sign Up: Team Captain and Teammates

      • $70/player.

      • 6 games per season.

      • Players may order a jersey for $20 in this section. If your team already has matching jerseys, this is not required.

    • Free Agent Sign Up: Players Without a Team

      • $70/player.

      • Tucson Soccer Center will do our best to find you a team!

      • Purchasing a jersey is recommended ($20).

      • In the very unlikely event that we are unable to find you a team, we will reimburse you in full.

  • Yes. In the event that your team is short-handed on any given week, we do allow guest players provided the following occurs:

    • First-time guest players must sign a waiver upon arrival at Tucson Soccer Center.

    • Guest players must pay a $15 guest fee for each game they play.

    • Guest players must be wearing a same-colored shirt as the team they are guest playing on (pinnies are available if colors do not match).

    • Guest players are not eligible to play in any playoff games.
       

  • Pickup is a chance for you to come check out 5v5 without the commitment of a weekly season schedule! This is designed for players at ALL SKILL LEVELS. We will assign teams at random and continue to do so until the teams are evenly matched!

     

    No need to RSVP. Just show up ready to play!

     

    One staff member will be present to referee. Their job is simply to keep the game fun & safe while educating you on OUR version of the league rules.

     

    There are two types of pickup style that we play, depending on how many people arrive:

    • King of the Court: (15+ players)

      • Two teams go head-to-head until somebody scores!

      • The team that scores stays on the field. The team that is scored on enters the back of rotation again.

    • Game-Clock:

      • Scoreboards are set to 8-10 minutes of non-stop play!

      • After the time lapses we typically take a short water-break, mix up teams if needed, and go again.

  • Our version of the rules may look a little different than other leagues you have played in. A full list of our rulebook can be viewed on the What Is 5-a-Side tab, or by simply clicking HERE.

     

    Some specific rules you'll want to look out for are:

    • Head-Height: The ball may not be played over head height intentionally. Deflections and shots are not considered part of this rule.

    • Goal-Kicks Only: We don't do corner kicks. Anything that hits the back net is an automatic goal-kick. You may use this rule to your advantage if you think quickly enough to do it!

    • Ball in the Corner: Please don't jam your opponent into the corner! If this does occur, you will hear a 5 second countdown from the referee. This is your cue to take one step backward before resuming play!

    • No Slide Tackles: Not only will you get called, but you'll get a nice turf-burn to match it! Only exception to this rule is the goalkeeper inside the goalie box.

    • Yellow Cards: Reckless challenges and/or dissent to the referee are punishable with a yellow card. If this does occur (hopefully not), you'll be asked to leave the field while your team plays a man-down for a full two-minutes, regardless of whether or not the other team scores a goal.

    • Turf/indoor/tennis shoes are allowed. No cleats.

    • Matching uniform tops are required for league-play. We don't care if you purchase your own or buy them from us. 

    • Shin guards are optional but encouraged.

    • For goalkeepers, long pants are recommended.

    • Jewelry should be removed unless it is worn for medical or religious purposes. The referee may ask you to cover it if it presents a safety risk.
